From Initiative to Action

in Social Skills

Description

The solution to address the learning challenges of grade four students at Panjab Centre Girls High School was to move from initiative to action. This solution focused on tackling the specific learning issues mentioned above and also addressed teacher-related challenges. It implemented a pedagogical practice where students were at the core of the learning process, with teachers serving as guides to help students with their assignments. In collaboration with their teachers, students received low-cost and no-cost materials from the school head, delivered by AKF, which they used to create learning

Step-by-step instructions for other teachers

then independently gather information about those topics and engage in discussions

Additionally, for lessons taught in a practical manner, students source materials and resources from their environment and apply them in their activities

Finally, the student's handmade were showcase at regional and national levels and they were appreciated by governmental authorities.

Results

This solution was implemented during the 2024 academic year. It was tested in two classes at the school, and as a result, most students' competencies improved. In literacy, students became able to read many texts and write and narrate stories. In mathematics, they were able to create modules and measure various shapes at both home and school. In science, their knowledge also improved as they engaged in practical learning in the school garden. Additionally, students' self-confidence increased, as they were able to ask and answer questions from their teachers and provide feedback to each other'.
