Geras - outdoor learning

in Social Skills

Description

Geras is an outdoor learning concept, learning outside the classroom, intended for students to participate in building the curriculum. The concept works across the curriculum with active learning, learning by doing, developing creativity/problem solving, resilience, critical thinking and mutual help between peers. Geras aims to provide students with increasingly holistic approaches, to be a facilitator of the development of creativity, exploring imagination, seeking happy learning, so that students are more predisposed and interested in learning.

Step-by-step instructions for other teachers

Freely exploring the school playground - thinking about what we can learn outside.

Look at the curriculum and design learning activities.

The classroom is outdoors - create out learning activities.

Geras is whenever we want and it makes sense - it can be every day or once a week - on a regular basis so that it is natural.

Share the activities developed at Geras.

What kind of results to expect?

Results

We hope that our students grow up in healthy and challenging environments, full of joy. And that they develop fundamental life skills, such as resilience, autonomy, critical thinking, decision making and problem solving/creativity. We want students to become involved in their learning, ensuring that they enjoy learning more. We want students to feel happy, and therefore more interested and willing to learn. And that the school is not only a space for knowledge, but also a fun, pleasant and playful place.
