Learning method for developing academic and life skills
Subcategories and tags
The learning method of developing academic and life skills means discovering and developing students' potential and actual abilities, which focuses not only on teaching academic concepts but also on strengthening practical and applied skills. This method emphasizes the principle that students should be able to develop and benefit from their skills and abilities in different life and academic environments.
The students were taken outside the classroom and the teacher talked about energy and its importance and how sunlight causes combustion. Later, they used a hand-held magnifying glass and found the focal point of the magnifying glass, placed a piece of cotton or paper in front of it, and concentrated the sunlight on it. The sunlight focused on one point and caused the cotton to burn. Later, I demonstrated this process to the students.
Encourage reflection on their performance and skills and receive constructive feedback to improve them. For example, after completing an activity or exercise, students can identify improvements in themselves by reflecting on their performance and asking for feedback from a teacher or classmate in the field, and make the necessary changes. This will help students develop skills in reflecting on their performance and expressing opinions.
Encourage cooperation and interaction with others to strengthen social skills and teamwork. For example, students participate in a group activity and learn from each other through cooperation and interaction and achieve problem solving by dividing into groups. Students who are able to write write on a topic such as the importance of books on a piece of paper and then discuss their writing in the group.
Encourage reflection on experiences and use them for growth and progress in life and the classroom. For example, a number of students are given the task of cutting up paper that is no longer usable at home into small pieces, then writing down the resulting fraction from this activity, and bringing the pieces of paper to class the next day and explaining the process.
Focusing on practical and applied skills that are needed in everyday life and have a direct impact on our lives. For example; protecting the environment, by creating groups of students and cleaning the school with masks and other necessary materials; educational charts, brooms, shovels, dustpans, toilet liquid, water. We teach students important life skills and a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
